Why I am uninstalling the Snap plugin

I installed the Snap Preview Anywhere plugin some time ago at my other site, Ad:varsel. I believed that a preview of external links would be a nice service to my readers. I had the euforic idea that readers would appreciate a preview of the links I provided, both in posts and on the site in general. I was wrong.

I have come to realize that the Snap plugin is a pop-up. And I don`t like pop-ups, and neither do you. However small, it`s in your face if you accidentaly move the mouse over a link when scrolling, and it takes your focus from what you where doing: reading my article. It acctually sends a message to you, that I would much rather you followed the link than read the rest of the article. And all too often it loads to slowly, thus creating the assumption of a dead link. And this is the opposite of the intention I had.

I have come to recognize that my readers have that much confidence in me, that they don`t need to be reassured that the links actually leads to different locations. But most important; I certainly don`t need to rub all the links in your face, when all your are trying to do is read the articles I wrote or scroll my pages.

It`s all a matter of usability, and the Snap makes it less usabel. It makes you think, and you don`t want to think when navigating. So if you want to check out the sites behind the links I provide on my sites, you have to click them.
